Zambrano pitches, hits Cubs past Padres (AP)

Carlos Zambrano didn’t let the chilly mid-May temperatures affect him on the mound, or at the plate. Zambrano won his fifth straight decision and had two hits on a 41-degree night, leading the Chicago Cubs past the San Diego Padres 12-3 on Monday night. “It’s OK for me. I’m from Alaska,” Zambrano said, drawing laughs.

Carlos Zambrano won his fifth straight decision and Alfonso Soriano homered in a six-run fifth Monday night as the Chicago Cubs won their fourth straight, beating the San Diego Padres 12-3. Pitching with an extra day’s rest after his start Sunday was scratched because of rainy conditions, Zambrano (6-1) allowed six hits and three runs in seven innings and also chipped in with his bat.

Now 42 and with another milestone tucked away after he became the ninth pitcher to get 350 wins Saturday, Maddux could be making his last stop at Wrigley Field as the San Diego Padres come to town for four games.
